As we approach the May bank holidays, we’d like to keep all our patients fully informed about our opening hours and how to access care if you experience a dental emergency.
Bank Holiday Closure Dates
Please note that Hermitage Dental Practice will be closed on:
Monday 4th May
Monday 25th May
We will reopen as normal on the following working days. If you think you may need treatment, we encourage you to contact us in advance to avoid disruption.
What to Do in a Dental Emergency
Dental emergencies—such as severe toothache, infection, swelling, or a damaged tooth—can require urgent attention. Here’s how to access care depending on your situation:
Practice Plan Members
If you are a member of our practice plan:
Call us at 8:30am on 01530 510533 for same-day emergency appointments (weekdays)
These appointments are complimentary as part of your plan
If you are more than 25 miles away:
You may visit any dentist for emergency care
Pay for treatment upfront and request an itemised receipt
To claim reimbursement:
Submit within 30 days (UK) or 90 days (abroad)
Claims are processed in line with treatment limits
Forms are available via the Global Dental Scheme website and can be submitted with receipts and supporting evidence
During weekends & bank holidays: As the practice is closed, you can:
Visit an emergency dentist locally
Pay a £15 excess fee
Submit your claim within 30 days
Please note: the maximum annual benefit is £200 per patient.
Non-Members (Private & New Patients)
If you are not on a practice plan:
Call us at 8:30am when we reopen
We aim to offer appointments within 24 hours
Emergency consultation fee: £125
This includes a full assessment to diagnose the cause of your pain.
If further treatment is required (e.g. fillings, extractions, root canal), this will be:
Clearly explained
Discussed with you beforehand
Charged separately
NHS Emergency Care (Children)
If your child is registered with us as an NHS patient:
Call us at 8:30am, and we will do our best to offer an appointment within 24 hours
For out-of-hours emergencies, please contact NHS 111 for urgent advice and access to emergency services.
